MARLBORO (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A Milford High School hockey player was seriously injured last night in a game against Nipmuc Regional High School.

It happened at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough at about 5:30. A puck hit 15-year-old Tyler Symes in the chest and he dropped to the ice. A nurse traveling with the team called for a defibrulator and emergency crews arrived in minutes to continue CPR.

An ambulance rushed him to UMASS Medical Center as EMT’s continued to work on him. He remains in a medically induced coma tonight with his parents at his side.

Tyler’s cousin Megan Galipeau credits the quick action of the nurse and EMT’s for saving his life.
